Job Description
Local recruitment: Water Resources Resilience Intern Delaware River Basin Commission West Trenton, NJ, USA 🇺🇸 The DRBC is seeking an intern to support development of the Water Resources Resilience Plan (WRRP), which is focused on advancing resilience of the Delaware River Basin's water resources to climate change impacts . This position will support outreach and community engagement aspects of the WRRP, with additional opportunities to engage in technical aspects of the plan development. Specific job duties may be tailored to the candidate's interests and experience and may include: Serving as a representative of DRBC and fostering relationships with community stakeholders and partners to educate the public on the WRRP process and its impact on communities. Staffing community outreach events to share information and recruit the public to participate in a survey. Processing, synthesizing and reporting on survey data. Assisting with planning, promoting and executing in-person and virtual listening session events, including venue selection, event logistics, advertisement and notetaking. Developing visual materials and/or a digital campaign to promote education about the WRRP and receive input from stakeholders. Developing targeted digital outreach to community groups, regional organizations and other coalitions/entities about public input opportunities and plan milestones. Supporting limited technical work related to the WRRP, which could include geospatial data interpretation, preparing maps and other figures and reviewing and summarizing technical reports, as interest allows. Applicants with the following experience and skills are encouraged to apply: Currently pursuing or recently completed a college degree in a related field, with coursework relating to environmental studies, water resources, climate science, planning, sociology, communications and/or community relations. Strong oral and written communication skills. Experience in planning and executing outreach and community engagement events for varied audiences. Local experience in the Delaware River Basin region is not required but is preferred. Experience working with geospatial data in Microsoft Excel, Python, R, ArcGIS or other similar tools is not required, but is preferred.
