Job Description

Catholic Religious Education Coordinator Maxwell AFB, Alabama Part-time | 1099 Independent Contractor | $20, commensurate with experience Do you have the organizational skills to bring a busy Catholic religious education program together? Would you enjoy helping children, young people and adults grow in their faith within a welcoming military community? The role This is an opportunity to play a central role in the spiritual life of the Catholic community at Maxwell Air Force Base. Working closely with the Catholic Chaplain, you will coordinate religious education and faith formation for participants from early childhood through to adulthood. You will help create a well-organized, supportive program where families, volunteers and chapel staff feel informed, included and valued. The position requires an average of at least 20 hours per week. This includes Sundays from 7:30am to 12:30pm, with the remaining 15 hours arranged in coordination with the Chaplain. Some additional hours may be required during Christmas, Easter and Vacation Bible School. Key Responsibilities Coordinate Catholic formation classes, Sunday School, Bible studies and sacramental programs Plan seasonal activities, including Christmas and Easter programs Help organize and deliver the annual Vacation Bible School Recruit, train, support and supervise program volunteers Prepare lesson plans and share materials with volunteers in advance Recommend suitable Catholic teaching resources and maintain program materials Manage the annual events calendar and assist with budget tracking Arrange classrooms, facilities, rehearsals and special events Promote upcoming activities through the correct approval process Provide regular program updates and complete after-action reports Build positive relationships with families, service members, volunteers and chapel staff The Benefits A meaningful role supporting Catholic children, adults and families A part-time schedule averaging 20 hours per week Government-provided chapel workspace, equipment and program supplies Potential funding for relevant workshops, retreats and professional training The opportunity to lead an established program while introducing new ideas The person You will need: A current letter of good standing from the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA A strong understanding of Catholic teaching, worship and faith formation Experience organizing programs, volunteers or community events Excellent communication and time-management skills Confidence using Microsoft Office-compatible software Fluent written and spoken English Eligibility to work in the United States Willingness to complete the required criminal history, childcare and installation checks The ability to meet Maxwell AFB security, safety and access requirements What's next Apply today and help create an organized, engaging and welcoming religious education program for the Maxwell AFB Catholic community.
