Job Description St. Thomas' Parish seeks an open-hearted, service-minded, and spiritually grounded priest to partner with and lead us in the next chapter of our communal life. Our parish is located in the Dupont Circle neighborhood of northwest Washington, DC, a lively area of the city that lies just between downtown "official Washington" and diverse, residential "DC." We are a community with a strong LGBTQ+ membership and identity, coming from a range of religious backgrounds, a tradition of welcoming those who have felt unwelcome in church, and close relationships with migrants and refugees. Through our worship, shared life, and active care for our neighbors, we strive to see Christ alive in our world and to be Christ for others, as we model courageous love, compassionate justice, and self-giving service. We hope to welcome a pastor who enjoys recognizing and drawing out parishioners' spiritual gifts; who cares about social justice and knows how it feels to engage in the holiest forms of outreach and service; who knows and loves Episcopal tradition and explains and shares that enthusiasm with others, yet also experiments with innovative and multicultural elements of worship; who is savvy enough to recognize and act on the unique challenges and opportunities of being a faith community in Washington D.C., at this specific time and place; who has the capacity to manage a complicated set of tenants and a lean budget; and who most of all loves God and embraces joy.
