Part-time Job Overview We are seeking to hire a Christ-centered, passionate, spiritually mature Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry for the Middle School, High School, and Young Adult (18-35) members of the parish.
We are dedicated to nurturing the spiritual, emotional, and social growth of our young members as true disciples of Jesus Christ. As Youth and Young Adult Minister, you have the pivotal role of guiding, mentoring, and inspiring our middle and high school students through their formative young adult years. Responsibilities Develop and lead monthly youth group meetings. Communicate and collaborate with the Directors of Children & Youth Faith Formation ministries with calendaring and weekly catechist curriculum. Coordinate youth attendance at retreats, conferences, mission trips, and special events. Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers for youth programs. With help from the Business Manager, help create and manage youth ministry budget. Communicate regularly with parents and keep them informed of upcoming events/activities. Encourage youth participation in church services and activities. Collaborate with other church staff and ministries to integrate youth activities into larger church community. Network with area Youth Ministers to promote and invite participation in local and Diocesan YM events for youth 6-12; attend Diocesan Deanery meetings. Nurture relationships with Young Adults and their families to help build our Young Adult Ministry (YAM). Coordinate speakers or events for the group to participate in. Collaborate with other YAM groups in the Diocese to offer their events to our YAM members. Encourage YAM participation in church services and activities. Coordinate and plan service opportunities for YAM to participate in with the parish. Requirements Bachelor's Degree in theology, religious studies, or a related field.
Experience working with youth and young adults in a church or related setting.
Flexible schedule to accommodate evening and weekend activities. Commitment to Diocese of Joliet funded Franciscan at Home certifications. Strong personal faith and understand of Catholic teachings. Ability to communicate, mentor and build relationships with youth, young adults, and parents. Proven leadership and organizational abilities. Proficient in using technology, Parish Data System (PDS), and social media to engage youth and young adults. Join us in shaping the spiritual journeys of our youth and young adults!
