Job Summary The Catechesis Aide supports the parish's faith formation and religious education programs by assisting catechists, staff, and volunteers in providing a welcoming, organized, and faith-filled learning environment for children, youth, and families. This position helps facilitate classroom activities, preparation of materials, student supervision, and program operations while promoting the mission and teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. Responsibilities Assist catechists with lesson preparation, classroom activities, and faith formation programs.
Support student engagement and participation during religious education classes and parish faith formation events.
Prepare and organize instructional materials, supplies, attendance records, and classroom resources.
Provide supervision and ensure a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment for all participants.
Assist with special programs, sacramental preparation, retreats, service projects, and parish events as assigned.
Help maintain classrooms, storage areas, and educational resources in an orderly manner.
Communicate effectively with catechists, parish staff, volunteers, and families regarding program needs.
Support the implementation of curriculum and activities consistent with Catholic teachings and parish objectives.
Follow Archdiocesan and parish policies, including safe environment requirements and confidentiality standards.
Perform additional related duties as assigned by the Director of Religious Education or parish leadership. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required.
Knowledge of and commitment to the mission, teachings, and values of the Roman Catholic Church.
Experience working with children, youth, or educational programs preferred.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with clergy, staff, volunteers, parents, and students.
Dependable, professional, and able to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to follow directions, manage multiple tasks, and maintain a positive learning environment.
Completion of all Archdiocesan Safe Environment requirements and background screening as required.
