FMUU is seeking a Children's and Youth Programming Coordinator to lead our Sunday Religious Exploration program and help shape creative, meaningful experiences for children and youth. This is a 10-hour/week permanent part-time leadership role with competitive pay, PTO, and a genuinely collaborative team. Position Summary:

The Unitarian Universalist Church of Fargo-Moorhead (FMUU) is seeking a part-time Children's and Youth Programming Coordinator. The Children's and Youth Programming (CYP) Coordinator supports the vision and mission of FMUU by ensuring the development and delivery of quality religious exploration (RE) programming for children and youth. The CYP Coordinator does this by participating in relevant staff and committee meetings, collaboratively establishing a philosophy of religious instruction, and managing the overall implementation of Children's and Youth religious exploration (RE) curriculum.

Principle Responsibilities:

1. Program Administration a. Develop the overall philosophy and design of the children's and youth religious exploration program in alignment with Unitarian Universalist values (see uua.org)—with support from the board of directors, the Children's and Youth Programming staff, and relevant committees b. Manage a small discretionary budget allocated for Children's and Youth Programming in collaboration with CYP participants, committee members, and staff c. Coordinate nursery/childcare attendants as needed for Sunday services, church-sponsored special events, and church business meetings d. Maintain program records (including weekly attendance records and monthly program reports) e. Recruit volunteers to help with program implementation as needed—any volunteers working with the children must first see the Church Administrator and satisfactorily complete a background check 2. Curriculum Development and Implementation a. Welcome children into a clean and well-maintained religious exploration (RE) space each week b. Plan lessons to facilitate children's engagement with UU values and principles (generally using curricula from UUA sources) c. Prepare and implement Sunday lesson plans—facilitating exploration of various faith traditions, social justice issues, and social/emotional learning topics d. Plan and present the 5-minute "Time for All Ages" during the upstairs worship service on Sundays 3. Safety and Security a. Ensure the safety of all program participants and exercise appropriate discipline (no hitting, belittling, or shaming; use redirection or other positive discipline strategies) b. Along with other CYP staff and volunteers, remain with children throughout designated program times—supervising bathroom and snacks as needed and ensuring that children stay in the assigned RE room during Sunday RE activities unless specifically designated otherwise; children must remain under RE staff supervision at all times Unitarian Universalist Church of Fargo-Moorhead August 2026 4. Coordination, Collaboration and Communication a. Plan and facilitate monthly Children's and Youth Programming Committee meetings (4th Sundays, 12:30-1:30p) b. Attend quarterly Leadership Council meetings (typically on a Sunday evening over Zoom) c. Attend quarterly Community Conversations (5th Sundays, 12:30-2p) d. Visit monthly Social Justice (1st Sundays, 12:30-1:30p) and Adult Programming (3rd Sundays, 12:30-2p) committee meetings to co-design multigenerational social justice and worship activities e. Coordinate weekly Children's and Youth Programming staff meetings (or check-ins) to help support collaborative program development and curriculum implementation f. Communicate regularly with parents— in person, via email, and/or through social media g. Collaborate with the Church Administrator and other staff to publish program announcements and related materials for weekly emails, monthly newsletter, social media and website h. Plan and facilitate additional meetings or communication strategies (amongst CYP staff, with parents, with congregation members, etc.) as needed for the program to thrive 5. Other Responsibilities a. Represent Children's and Youth Programming at community outreach events and activities b. Support children's and youth engagement with fellowship, fundraising, and social justice activities c. Assist with Community Conversations and/or visit board meetings upon need or request d. Help to foster a culture of inclusion, belonging and activism in our congregation Relation to

Preferred Qualifications:

• 3+ years teaching experience
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Education or a related field
• Religious education training, ideally UUA affiliated
