We believe children are an important part of the church today, and our Children's Ministry exists to create safe, joyful, and gospel-centered environments where children can encounter Jesus, build meaningful relationships, and grow in their faith. Position Summary The Children's Director provides leadership and oversight for all Children's Ministry environments from birth through 6th grade. This role is responsible for developing engaging, Christ-centered programming, building and equipping a strong volunteer team, partnering with families, and creating opportunities for children to learn, connect, serve, and grow in their relationship with Jesus. The Children's Director will provide hands-on leadership on Sunday mornings while also planning and preparing weekly programming, seasonal events, outreach opportunities, and activities that support the continued growth and development of the ministry. Core Responsibilities Oversee Sunday morning Children's Ministry environments from birth through 6th grade, including Nursery, Hope Kids, and Gravity 456. Recruit, onboard, schedule, equip, and encourage volunteers, ensuring appropriate volunteer coverage for all Children's Ministry environments. Source and prepare relevant, Christ-centered Sunday lessons and supporting activities for Hope Kids (age 3-3rd grade) and Gravity 456 (4th-6th grade). Plan service projects and social activities throughout the year for Gravity 456 students, creating opportunities for connection, spiritual growth, and age-appropriate service. Plan, prepare, and lead key seasonal programs and events, including the Easter Egg Hunt/Festival, Vacation Bible School, Back to School Bash, Trunk or Treat, and Children's Christmas Program. Partner with parents and families through consistent communication, encouragement, and appropriate pastoral care during significant life events or times of need. Engage in community outreach and develop opportunities to welcome and connect new children and families to Community of Hope. Collaborate with the Pastor, staff, and ministry leaders to ensure Children's Ministry is integrated into the broader mission and life of the church. Maintain safe, welcoming, organized, and age-appropriate ministry environments for every child. Qualifications A growing and authentic personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a lifestyle consistent with biblical leadership. A genuine love for children and a desire to help them know Jesus and grow in their faith. Ability to communicate biblical truth in engaging and age-appropriate ways. Strong relational and communication skills with children, parents, volunteers, and staff. Ability to recruit, organize, encourage, and develop volunteer teams. Strong organizational skills with the ability to balance weekly ministry responsibilities, advance planning, and special events. Dependable, proactive, and able to work independently while collaborating effectively with church leadership. Prior experience in Children's Ministry, education, volunteer leadership, or a related area is preferred. Schedule & Commitment This is a part-time position requiring approximately 20-25 hours per week .

Regular weekly commitments include:

Sunday | 8:00 AM-12:00

PM:

Set-up, volunteer coordination, and oversight of Nursery, Hope Kids, and Gravity 456 classrooms, followed by clean-up. Tuesday | Approximately 2 hours: Weekly staff meeting. Pastoral Planning Meeting | 1-2 hours weekly: Collaborative ministry planning and coordination with the Pastor.

Remaining Weekly Hours:

Flexible scheduling for lesson and activity preparation, volunteer communication and development, event planning, outreach, family communication, and other administrative responsibilities necessary to successfully lead the ministry. Additional availability will be required for scheduled seasonal programs, special events, and other Children's Ministry activities throughout the year. Compensation This is a part-time position with annual compensation of $30,000.
