the Youth Minister develops, directs, and oversees the activities for the youth (grades 6-12) as a member of a collaborative staff team.
Working Relationships:
The Youth Minister is directly responsible to the pastor. He or she will work closely with the Coordinator for Christian Formation. He or she will be a member of the parish staff and Parish Faith Formation Team.
Duties and Responsibilities Ministerial:
o Coordinates Christian Formation for Middle School and High School students. o Works as a member of the parish Sacramental Preparation Team for Confirmation. o Plans and coordinates youth activities throughout the year. o Coordinates parish participation in diocesan youth programs, such as retreats, conferences, and mission trips. o Recruits, trains, and supervises volunteers in compliance with Diocesan Safe Environment Policies.
Administrative:
o Plans and oversees budget, calendar, and orders for youth ministry activities. o Communicates regularly with pastor, staff, parents, youth, and volunteers. o Attends Christian Faith Formation Team meetings and parish staff meetings. o Secures the building after youth activities.
Working Conditions:
A 20 hour work week with time divided between regular office hours and youth ministry evening/weekend activities. The weekly schedule will be worked out with the Pastor. Attendance at certain Diocesan Youth Programs is expected and will be worked out with the pastor.
Qualifications:
Must be a practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church. Should have a bachelor's degree, and some experience in ministry or evangelization. Ability to work well with youth and adults. Ability to plan, organize, implement, and evaluate programs. Must be a self-starter with good communication and social media skills. Must have a valid driver's license.
