Able2Shine has ranked in the Top 3 sweepstakes in national elementary, middle, and high school speech & debate tournaments for several consecutive years. We are expanding our programs nationally and internationally—and we are now looking for experienced College Counselors to support high school students in both the U.S. and China.
The Role:
We are seeking an experienced, articulate, and student-centered College Counselor to join our growing team. You will work 1:1 with high school students (Grade 9+) to guide them through the U.S. college admissions process—from course selection and extracurricular planning to essay crafting and application submission. This role offers flexibility, autonomy, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students' futures.
What You'll Do:
  • Conduct comprehensive initial assessments of each student's academic profile, interests, and goals
  • Develop personalized admissions strategies, including course selection, extracurricular planning, social impact projects and summer program recommendations
  • Guide students through brainstorming, drafting, and revising compelling personal statements and supplemental essays
  • Prepare students for admissions interviews and help them build strong application narratives
  • Advise families on college selection, financial aid, and merit scholarship strategies
  • Stay current on U.S. college admissions trends, testing policies, and institutional priorities
  • Maintain clear, timely communication with students and parents via Zoom, email, etc.
What You Bring:
    Experience:
    At least 5 years of college counseling experience with high school students, with a track record of successful admissions outcomes
      Preferred Background:
      2+ years of experience as a former college admissions officer is a strong plus
        Education:
        Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred
          Location:
          Based in the Bay Area or open to working online
