Job Description On behalf of the American Institutes for Research (AIR), The Midtown Group is seeking a Test Proctors/Part-Time Child Assessor to work on a pre-kindergarten research study. The Part-Time Child Assessor will conduct assessments of children's language, literacy, and math skills with students attending pre-kindergarten at Lincoln Elementary School (613 County Avenue, Lincoln, AR 72744). American Institutes for Research (AIR) is a behavioral and social science research organization. AIR's overriding goal is to use the best science available to bring the most effective ideas and approaches to enhancing everyday life.
What You Will Do:
Conduct standardized one-on-one child assessments with pre-k students. Work between 15-23 hours per week during daytime school hours. Complete and return all assignments and assessment data according to required deadlines. Strictly adhere to AIR's and the school district's procedures to protect the privacy of children and families. Maintain contact with AIR's data collection coordinator and other project team members in a timely and professional manner.
Requirements:
Demonstrated experience in school-based settings, particularly working with preschool and/or elementary school-age children. Familiarity with implementing standardized assessment procedures is a plus. Fluency in both written and spoken English. Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain organized computer-based files and records. Comfort and familiarity with using a computer, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Windows. Experience using databases is strongly preferred. Ability to work well independently and under the direction of project coordinators. Ability and willingness to drive your own car regularly to reach the assigned school site. Consent to a background check and fingerprinting process prior to the start of training.
Additional Information:
Paid, mandatory online training and certification is scheduled to start the second week of August 2026. Further employment is contingent upon successful completion of training and successfully passing a certification test. Qualified candidates should be available to commit for the full data collection period (2 weeks of in-school assessments starting late August). Travel time is paid, and mileage from your home to the site location is reimbursed. Owning a reliable car is required.
Physical Requirements:
Frequent local travel to respondent locations. Communicate through speech and listening. Read text verbatim from a notebook or computer screen. Transport iPads, equipment, and materials weighing between 10-25 lbs depending on your assignment. Stand, walk, and climb stairs. Kneeling, crouching, and sitting on the floor with children.
