Sánchez Adobe Museum Educator San Mateo County Historical Association - 3.9 Pacifica, CA Job Details Part-time $22 - $23 an hour 4 hours ago Qualifications Some college High school diploma or GED Experience working with children Working with students Cleaning Full Job Description The Museum Educator presents educational tours and hands-on activities to children and adults primarily at the Sánchez Adobe in Pacifica. This position is on an as-needed basis. In general, the Museum Educator will work 6-15 hours per week during the school year. Ideal candidates will have reliable transportation to the Sánchez Adobe in Pacifica. The Museum Educator enhances the visitor experience through providing active, engaging tours and activities for mostly elementary school children.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Under moderate supervision, set-up and present interactive programs and tours to school groups (primarily 4th grade) at Sánchez Adobe in Pacifica. The programs focuses on the Ramaytush Ohlone era and especially the Mexican Era of California history at the historic site. Use a variety of educational materials, resources and equipment during programs. Provide instruction and minor supervision of chaperones and volunteers running hands-on activities during the tours and programs. Clean up after programs. Present engaging general tours for youth and adult groups. Working closely with staff and volunteers, provide a helpful environment for visitors during tours and programs. Perform other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma, some college preferred, and two years working experience, preferably with children. Public speaking, teaching or museum experience helpful. General knowledge of and/or interest in history of California and San Mateo County.

Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to work enthusiastically and effectively with visitors, museum staff, volunteers and program participants (including adults and children). Ability to be flexible while working in a busy, active public work environment. Ability to provide an atmosphere that reinforces a positive environment for students. Ability to work successfully in a multi-cultural community.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Requires a lot of time standing and walking and some bending. May include moving light furniture and program props. May require lifting objects weighing up to 35 pounds. A background check will be performed.
