Part Time Position Summary The School Social Worker for the Talbot County School District provides comprehensive social work services to support students' academic achievement, attendance, behavior, and social-emotional well-being. This position focuses on identifying and removing barriers to learning through collaboration with families, school personnel, and community agencies, while promoting a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment for all students. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Student Services Provide individual and group counseling to students experiencing academic, behavioral, emotional, or social challenges Conduct social, emotional, and behavioral assessments to inform intervention planning Participate in Student Support Team (SST), MTSS, IEP, and Section 504 meetings Develop, implement, and monitor intervention and attendance improvement plans Support implementation of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and trauma-informed practices Attendance & Truancy Support Address attendance concerns through early intervention, home visits, and family engagement Collaborate with administrators to ensure compliance with Georgia attendance laws and truancy prevention efforts Maintain accurate and timely attendance documentation and reports Family & Community Engagement Serve as a liaison between the school, home, and community agencies Conduct home visits, as appropriate, to support student success Connect families with community resources (e.g., mental health, housing, food, medical, and social services) Support parent engagement and family outreach initiatives School & District Collaboration Consult and collaborate with teachers, counselors, administrators, and support staff Assist with crisis intervention, threat assessments, and student safety planning Support school climate initiatives and student wellness programs Participate in district committees and professional learning opportunities Compliance & Professional Responsibilities Maintain confidential records in accordance with FERPA, IDEA, and Georgia Department of Education requirements Adhere to ethical standards established by NASW and the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) Complete required reports and documentation in a timely and accurate manner Engage in ongoing professional development Qualifications Required Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution Georgia Professional Educator Certificate in School Social Work (or eligibility) Knowledge of child development, behavior intervention strategies, and trauma-informed practices Preferred Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Georgia Experience working in a school setting and/or rural community Knowledge of special education laws, procedures, and compliance requirements
