Parents as Teachers (PAT) Parent Educator

Job Description

Join Our Team! The Nishna Valley Family YMCA is seeking a compassionate, organized, and family-focused professional to serve as a Parents as Teachers (PAT) Parent Educator . This rewarding position works directly with families from pregnancy through kindergarten entry, helping parents build confidence, strengthen family relationships, and support their child's healthy development and school readiness. If you are passionate about early childhood development and making a lasting impact in the lives of children and families, we encourage you to apply. What You'll Do Home Visits Conduct regular in-home or virtual visits with families using the Parents as Teachers curriculum. Support parent-child interaction, child development, and family well-being. Develop trusting relationships with participating families. Developmental Screenings Administer developmental, hearing, vision, and health screenings. Monitor developmental milestones and connect families with services when concerns arise. Family Engagement Plan and facilitate group activities and parent education events. Encourage family participation and build community connections among parents. Community Resources Assess family needs and connect families with local resources such as childcare, healthcare, housing assistance, food programs, and early intervention services. Program Administration Manage a caseload of approximately 15-25 families. Maintain accurate and confidential documentation. Meet program reporting requirements and grant compliance standards. Assist with outreach, recruitment, and community awareness efforts. Qualifications Required Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Social Work, Family Services, Human Services, or a related field. Minimum of two years of experience working with young children and families. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Ability to pass required background checks and child abuse registry screenings. Preferred Experience in home visiting, family support services, early childhood programs, or social services. Strong communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills. Training The selected candidate must complete and maintain required Parents as Teachers Foundational and Model Implementation Training and annual professional development requirements.
