Job Description:
Under the supervision of the Program Director, the Bilingual Family Liaison serves as a trusted resource for families by helping them navigate GECRC programs and access community benefits. This position plays a vital role in reducing barriers to participation by assisting families with program registration, completing applications for public benefit programs, and connecting them to supportive services. The ideal candidate is bilingual in English and Spanish, highly organized, culturally responsive, and passionate about serving children and families.
Essential Duties:
Assist families with registration and enrollment for GECRC programs, including after-school, summer, and special programming Guide families through the application process for financial assistance Maintain accurate enrollment records and ensure required documentation is collected Communicate with families regarding registration deadlines, program updates, and required paperwork Provide interpretation and translation services for families as part of GECRC programming Assist families in applying for Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP) Build positive, trusting relationships with children and families Connect families with community resources that support housing, food security, healthcare, mental health services, and other basic needs Participate in family events, orientations, and outreach opportunities Serve as a liaison between families, GECRC staff, schools, and community partners Help families gather and organize required documentation Monitor application status and provide follow-up support as needed Maintain knowledge of eligibility requirements and program updates Create an inclusive environment where students are actively engaged in the learning process Collaborate with team members to enhance academic and social experiences Model professional standards with students, parents, peers, volunteers and community Maintain cooperative working relationships with students, parents, team members and school staff Participate in ongoing trainings as well as regular staff meetings Demonstrate efficient work habits: punctuality, meeting deadlines, team collaboration, etc Maintain confidential family records in accordance with organizational policies Track enrollment, benefit applications, and family support activities Prepare reports and documentation as requested Assist with data collection for grants and program evaluation Support general office and program operations as needed Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by their supervisor
Required Qualifications and Education:
Fluency in English and Spanish required (written and verbal) Associate's degree preferred; equivalent work experience in human services, education, social work, or a related field will be considered Knowledge of public assistance programs and community resources preferred Strong organizational and time-management skills Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information Proficiency with Microsoft Office and online data management systems Demonstrated ability to work both independently and on a team Strong problem solving skills Able to engage in active movement with students; light lifting of up to 40 lbs How to
