Job Summary We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Parent Mentor Coordinator to recruit a cohort of Parent Mentors for the school for the current school year in Vienna IL. The Parent Mentor Coordinator supervises Parent Mentors and is involved in the administration of the program. Each PMC must be accountable to his/her responsibilities and must act with the highest level of professionalism, must communicate regularly with the PM Organizer, P4R PM Team and must demonstrate a strong commitment to the success of the program.
Responsibilities Recruitment :
The Parent Mentor Coordinator is required to recruit a cohort of Parent Mentors according as stated in the grant agreement for the school for the current school year.
Support and Supervision of Parent Mentors :
The PMC is responsible for the supervision of the Parent Mentors. Supporting Parent Mentors in realizing their dreams and personal goals. Working with teachers or school administrators to match parent mentors with classroom teachers (not their own child's teacher). Check-ins with teachers for updates on parent mentors' responsibilities. Getting parent mentor and teacher signatures for the timesheet. Being available as needed to assist the parent mentors in resolving any issue that may arise while carrying out their responsibilities. Conduct observation of in-person classroom work or virtual sessions.
Administration of Parent Mentor Program:
Keeping and maintaining files. Requesting checks for PM stipends once they meet the obligations and requirements laid out in the PM contract and or as outlined by Parent Engagement Institute. Submitting necessary paperwork and data before or by its due date.
Support of Parent Mentor Program :
Maintaining mutual respect among the parents, teachers, and school administration. Ensuring the proper implementation and execution of the PMP as laid down by PEI and ensure that all involved understand their roles. Adhering to the Program Safety Policy by ensuring that parent mentors are following the community organization and school district safety policies.
Meetings and Trainings:
Attend all PEI statewide as well as P4R meetings and trainings. Plan and facilitate initial PM training and weekly workshops, reflections, or planning sessions for their local schools throughout the school year. Ensuring their parent mentors attend weekly training sessions provided by PEI. Beyond the
Classroom:
The PMC will be responsible for engaging parent mentors in community leadership beyond the classroom. This may include the successful execution of one Beyond the Classroom event to build the community organizing skills of parent mentors. Experience Bachelor's degree in Education or Social Work or related field preferred. Ability to build relationships with school administration, teachers, staff and parents. Demonstrated success and ability to building relationships with diverse stakeholders. Ability to manage a multifaceted project with a collegial approach. Excellent oral and written communication skills, excellent listening skills. Work Environment Mostly works at the assigned school in Vienna, IL in addition to office and virtual meetings. Some travel may be required for meetings and events.
