Brown County Schools Elementary School Counselor/Social Worker Position Description Position:

Brown County Schools is seeking a full-time (187 day) School Counselor or Social Worker to support the social-emotional wellness and career-connected learning needs of Preschool through Grade 5 students at Van Buren Elementary school. Located in beautiful Brown County Indiana, Van Buren Elementary is a 30-to-45-minute drive from parts of Columbus, Bloomington, Greenwood or Martinsville in Nashville, Indiana.

Qualifications:

Candidates must either meet the Indiana licensing requirements for School Counselor as defined by the IDOE under 515 IAC 8-1-4 or hold a Master's Degree in Social Work and license from the IPLA (IC 25-23.6-4-1). School Counselors and Social Workers holding a Student Services License from the IDOE (515 IAC 8-1-48) are preferred, however Social Workers willing to purse an IDOE license are encouraged to apply.

The school team at Van Buren Elementary consists of a Principal, teachers, special educators, a speech-language pathologist, and community-based mental health providers. • Develop and implement policies for the safety of all students (i.e. Body Safety, Bullying Prevention, Digital Safety)
• Understand how cultural, societal, socio-economic status, physical and mental health, and familial factors affect students
• Coordinate community resources to meet students' needs
• Educate faculty and staff in areas such as anti-bullying and Positive Behavior Supports
• By being part of the crisis and multi-disciplinary assessment and intervention teams
