Position:
The purpose of this role is to provide leadership for The
EPICENTER
toward the accomplishment of its mission. This position is primarily concerned with developing and casting vision for the Youth Programs at Abingdon/Edgewood. Developing plans and strategies and ensuring their execution, building and nurturing relationships in families within the community, providing high-level program direction, cultivating a healthy culture within the Abingdon team and ensuring its operational success.

Directors of School Age Centers A. In a school age center with a capacity of 60 or fewer children, the director shall have completed at least: (1) 400 hours of experience working under supervision primarily with school age children in a licensed child care center, public or private school, or a similar setting; or (2) 1 year of experience caring for school age children as a registered family child care provider.

B. In a school age center with a capacity of 61 or more children, the director shall have completed at least: (1) 800 hours of experience working under supervision primarily with school age children in a licensed child care center, public or private school, or similar setting; or (2) 2 years of experience caring for school age children as a registered family child care provider. C. An individual is considered qualified as a director of a school age center if the individual is certified for kindergarten, nursery school through third grade, or grades 1 through 8 by the Department or by the state board of any other state. D. If, as of July 1, 2008, an individual was currently employed at a center serving only school age children and qualified as the director of that center, the individual continues to be qualified as the director if continuously employed at the same or at another school age center. Primary Responsibilities Leadership Leadership and oversight of Youth Programs at Abingdon
  • administration, programs, strategic planning, partnerships & structure Lead the ZONE & Camp EPIC Staff members at the Aberdeen/Edgewood Location including 1:1 bi-weekly meetings, staff meetings, operations management and other staff care responsibilities.
Support Director of Youth and Family Outreach and/or Site Director in special projects/other areas as assigned including Family events & Outreach events that impact Abingdon. Foster a healthy culture within the organization. Collaborate as an
EPICENTER
program leader in the development and vision for Abingdon Youth programs, setting direction and mobilizing efforts to accomplish the mission. Programs Cultivate a safe, inclusive and nurturing environment that supports the developmental, social-emotional and physical needs of area youth. Develop and nurture positive relationships with children, families and staff. Manage the Day to Day logistics of the Program (schedules, staffing, coverage) Actively engage youth with encouragement and enthusiasm to: Recognize their individual strengths and abilities Build confidence Persevere through challenges and embrace problem solving opportunities Value life-long learning Make positive contributions in any setting Expand and communicate the high quality services the

story with a focus on youth. Licensing
  • Keep "Safety First" as a fundamental value. Make daily observations of the facility to ensure all areas offer a safe environment in alignment with licensing requirements and regulations.
  • Provide oversight and maintenance of all on site staff and child licensing documentation.
  • Participate in monthly Childcare Director Meetings with MDOE Embrace and support involvement in Maryland EXCELS program
Hours/Salary:
Full Time (40 Hours) Salary, Exempt. Medical, Dental and Vision Benefits available.

$50,000

  • 6:00 PM (with some flexibility)
Camp EPIC:
8 Hour Shift between 7:00 AM
  • 6:00
PM Select Holidays:
The
EPICENTER
will remain closed and employees are paid regular pay
Sick/Personal Time:
Paid sick/personal leave is provided in the amount of 40 hours annually.
