Job Description

Position:
Elementary School Social Worker - Long-term Substitute Tentatively August 19, 2026 - November 30, 2026
Qualifications:
1. Master's degree in Social Work 2. Knowledge of State of Michigan and Federal Rules and Regulations regarding Special Education and Section 504, including special education eligibility process/evaluations and Individualized Education Program (IEP) planning 3. Knowledge of seclusion and restraint procedures, emergency intervention plans and crisis de-escalation 4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators
Job Responsibilities:
1. Collaborate with staff in planning education intervention and behavior management. 2. Administer appropriate assessments (BASC, BERS, SEAR's, Connors, etc), interpret results, and provide implications and recommendations. 3. Attend staff meetings and collaborate with colleagues to improve instructional strategies. 4. Serve as a member of evaluation teams, child study, and other teams coordinating the support of educational planning and student success. 5. Ongoing communication and collaboration with families on student progress. 6. Knowledge of community resources and ability to serve as a liaison between school, parents, students, and outside resources. 7. Coordinates with and provides consultation in behavioral and social-emotional areas for general and special education staff and school administrators working with students.
