Job Description

Job Summary The Aftercare Worker supports the school community by providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for students enrolled in the school's aftercare program. This position plays an important role in supporting families by ensuring students are well supervised and cared for after the regular school day. The Aftercare Worker fosters a positive atmosphere where children can participate in recreational activities, complete homework, and interact respectfully with peers while reflecting the values and mission of Catholic education.

Job Responsibilities Supervise and engage a designated group of students during aftercare hours. Ensure the safety, well-being, and appropriate supervision of all children in the program. Plan, lead, and participate in age-appropriate games, crafts, recreational activities, homework time, and quiet activities. Maintain a structured, respectful, and welcoming environment that promotes positive behavior and Christian values. Assist with snack distribution, cleanup, and transitions between activities. Monitor student behavior and implement school expectations in a positive and consistent manner. Report behavioral, disciplinary, medical, or safety concerns promptly to the Aftercare Coordinator or school administration. Maintain accurate daily attendance records and follow established student sign-in and sign-out procedures. Build positive relationships with students, parents, faculty, and fellow staff members. Assist with organizing, cleaning, and securing aftercare materials and activity spaces at the end of each session. Follow all school policies and diocesan Safe Environment and child protection requirements. Perform other duties as assigned by the Aftercare Coordinator or Principal. Job Requirements High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in education, child development, or a related field is preferred. Experience working with children in a school, daycare, camp, or similar setting is preferred. Ability to supervise groups of children while maintaining a safe, positive, and organized environment. Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively with school staff and communicate effectively with parents. Patient, dependable, responsible, and committed to fostering a caring environment. Supportive of the mission, philosophy, and values of Catholic education.
