POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Senior Program Director and in accordance with the Christian mission of the YMCA, the Child Care Coordinator will provide a quality experience to children through programming that focuses on the YMCA core values: Caring, Faith, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility. This position assumes responsibility for helping children in the Carl and Linda Grubb Family YMCA's Youth Programs develop and strengthen physical, social, and emotional skills. Hours for this position would include working up to 40 hours a week during the summer, and up to 29 hours a week during the school year and as needed for special/community events.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Adheres and complies with the YMCA of High Point Employee Manual, Policy & Procedures Manual, and Code of Conduct including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergency preparedness. 2. Ensures the health, safety and well-being of children in the program by providing close supervision. 3. Plans, assists and executes trainings, activities, and special/community events. 4. Supervises and participates in recreational activities. 5. Ensures parents/guardians are kept well informed of behavior and happenings within programs. 6. Communicates and collaborates with the Senior Program Director daily. 7. Maintains program sites and equipment. 8. Manages all employee schedules. 9. Tracks financial reports and communicates with parents/guardians regarding outstanding balances on a regular basis. 10. Assists in leading and implementing the Counselor in Training Program for Camp Wauneka. 11. Assists in the distribution of program information. 12. Reviews and files all Camp Wauneka, Child Watch, and After School Care forms. 13. Assists in interviewing, supervising and mentoring staff within the Child Care department. 14. Attends and participates in all staff meetings and trainings. 15. Must have the competencies, skills and proven leadership ability to successfully carry out the YMCA mission, goals and vision for serving the community. 16. Builds relationships through all interactions; maintains regular, clear and concise communication within areas of responsibility. 17. Represents the YMCA with key community organizations and at events as needed. 18. Conducts behavior at all times in a professional manner to reflect positively on the
YMCA. 19.
Participates with other members of management in the YMCA's fundraising campaigns. 20. Performs other duties and tasks as requested by immediate supervisor to facilitate efficient and effective production of the
YMCA. QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum age of 21.
  • Valid Driver License and ability to drive 14 passenger bus.
  • CPR/First Aid and AED Certification within the first 30 days of employment.
  • Completion of YMCA program-specific training.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Previous experience working with children.
  • Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate activities.

Pay:
$14.00 - $16.00 per hour
