Category Schools - Social Worker Job Type Contract Bring your expertise in recreational therapy and social work to empower K-12 students in a vibrant school setting! This full-time, contract opportunity offers the chance to serve multiple school sites in the Los Lunas, NM area as an itinerant professional, making a meaningful impact on students' well-being and growth. As a key member of the student services team, you will: Qualifications & Certifications Current NM CTRS (Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist) certification required (more details: ) Background or experience in school-based social work or recreational therapy preferred Comfort with an itinerant role traveling between schools Compassionate communication skills and ability to engage with diverse student populations, including those with autism, ADHD, and developmental delays Responsibilities Design and facilitate group games to enhance social skills development for students with autism Create and lead structured physical activities to help students with ADHD manage energy and focus Adapt sports and recreational programs to support students with developmental delays in building motor skills Guide students with disabilities to access and utilize community recreation resources, fostering inclusion and independence Provide coping strategies, relaxation techniques, and social-emotional support to students experiencing stress, anxiety, or depression Collaborate with school staff and families to coordinate consistent support across settings This contract role runs full time (35 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 8am-3:30pm) from ASAP through the end of the school year. Your dedicated service will reach an assigned caseload of around 35 students.
