Job Description Position Summary CiTi BOCES is seeking a compassionate and student-centered Long-Term Substitute School Social Worker, School Psychologist, or School Counselor to support students in our STRIVE (Safe, Trusting, Restorative, Instructional and Vocational Environment) High School Program. The successful candidate will provide counseling and social-emotional support services to students with significant social, emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs while collaborating with school staff and families to promote student success. About STRIVE The STRIVE program serves students requiring intensive social, emotional, and behavioral supports. Through individualized interventions, restorative practices, and a therapeutic educational environment, students develop self-regulation, positive relationships, resilience, and academic success. Essential Responsibilities Provide individual and small-group counseling services in accordance with student IEPs and program needs.
Support students' social-emotional, behavioral, and coping skill development using evidence-based practices.
Respond to student crises and assist with behavioral and safety plans as needed.
Collaborate with teachers, administrators, related service providers, families, and community agencies.
Participate in CSE meetings, IEP development, and implementation of behavioral and intervention plans.
Maintain required documentation, progress monitoring, and compliance with special education regulations.
Support a positive, restorative, and trauma-informed learning environment.
Job Qualifications Required New York State certification as a:
School Social Worker
School Psychologist
School Counselor
Experience working with students with social, emotional, behavioral, and/or mental health needs.
Strong communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills. Preferred Experience in special education, alternative education, or therapeutic settings.
Knowledge of Restorative Practices, trauma-informed care, and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS).
Experience providing individual and group counseling and social-emotional learning supports. Desired Characteristics The ideal candidate is: Student-centered and relationship-focused.
