Job Opening Information MBK Indigenous Mentor Job Number 081126-02 Application Deadline 8/24/2026 Position Start Date 9/7/2026 Position Title MBK Indigenous Mentor Required Application Type School Related Personnel Salary/Pay Scale $2,500 Job Description Southampton Union Free School District is seeking qualified internal applicants to serve as MBK Indigenous Mentors for the school year.

Compensation:
$2,500 Responsibilities Facilitate meetings twice a month with the SHS or SIS Shinnecock MBK Mentoring Groups to implement the mentoring curriculum provided by the Shinnecock MBK Coordinator. Attend mentor training facilitated by the Shinnecock MBK Coordinator. Serve as a positive role model for the mentees and provide emotional support and guidance to help them navigate both school and life. Encourage Academic Success by discussing grades, attendance, study habits and goal setting. Help mentees develop life skills such as communication, leadership, problem solving, decision making, and conflict resolution. Create spaces where our young Shinnecock men feel seen, heard, and valued. Help mentees celebrate cultural identity, strengthen self-worth, and confidence. Attend field trips (college tours, leadership workshops, career exploration etc.). Assist in facilitating Shinnecock MBK events. Requirements High School Diploma NYS Department of Education Fingerprint Clearance Active relationships with Shinnecock MBK students & families is required
