Category Schools - Social Worker Job Type Contract Step into a meaningful contract position making an impact across multiple school communities. Bring your expertise as a dedicated School Social Worker to support students and families in the Hazleton region and surrounding areas. This full-year, itinerant role offers you the opportunity to collaborate with diverse teams and deliver services in several educational settings—perfect for professionals who thrive on variety and adaptability. Enjoy a balanced schedule working 32.5 hours per week, with your time split between multiple sites: spend three days at Northwest Area and two days with LIU programs in the Wilkes Barre, Wyoming Valley, and Pittston areas. You'll be traveling between locations, providing vital support and services to meet the unique needs of each school and student population.
Qualifications & Experience:
Active Social Work license for Pennsylvania required Pennsylvania Department of Education (DOE) school social worker certification preferred (If not currently held, an emergency certification may be arranged for the first year without enrollment; continued emergency certification requires program enrollment for a second year) Experience in school settings strongly preferred Passion for student advocacy, crisis intervention, and family engagement Adaptable to work in multiple locations; reliable transportation required Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct and indirect social work services to students, families, and staff Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to address students' needs Conduct assessments and develop intervention plans Facilitate referrals to community resources and supports Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to individualized education plans (IEPs) Promote positive school climate and student well-being through prevention and intervention strategies This contract position gives you the chance to expand your skills, serve diverse communities, and experience meaningful professional growth.
