As an Early Childhood Intervention Home Trainer, you will provide personalized care and support to individuals with disabilities, helping them live independently, participate in their communities, and achieve personal goals.

WORK SCHEDULE & LOCATION

Location:

Pottsville, PA

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Comply with all policies/procedures & represent Avenues in a professional, ethical & positive manner
• Always maintain appropriate confidentiality
• Advocate for the well-being of those Avenues serves
• Report any unsafe condition, accident, illness or suspected neglect/abuse immediately to supervisor or designee
• Complete all required staff training hours annually & assigned
• Perform other duties as assigned & work assigned hours/schedule
• Receive referrals for enrollment/services from the manager or executive director
• Observe parent/child relationships & evaluate the capacity to make constructive use of program
• Maintain a case record of each family service, including admission forms, health forms, record of family contacts & other agency contracts regarding the family
• Will, along with the case manager & the family, help formulate the IFSP, design revisions & quarterly progress notes
• Consults the therapists regarding implementation strategies for the individual's goals
• Function as a liaison between family & case management
• Will, in cooperation with case management, maintain contact with human service agencies for coordinator of program services
• Participate as the agency representation in the case manager bi-annual service plan meeting for the children on your assigned caseload
• Plan & participate in instructional programs for the parents of enrolled children at regular intervals throughout the year
• Conduct home visits to maintain home contacts with the family as needed
• Work with parents as needed to strengthen the family unit & assist in activities of the parent group
• Comply with all state & federal regulations regarding early intervention, specifically Act 212, that go beyond the above listed duties
• Perform other duties as assigned by program manager or executive director
• Attending pertinent job training designed to improve job performance

WHAT YOU BRING

• Bachelor's degree in early intervention, early childhood special education, early childhood education, child development, special education or family studies.

(If bachelor's degree is not in the listed majors, applicants can still be considered if there is documentation of 15 credit hours in early intervention, early childhood special education, early childhood education, child development, special education, special education or family studies.)

• 1 year of full-time or full-time-equivalent working directly with preschool children with disabilities & their families or a university-supervised or college-supervised student practicum or teaching experience with preschool children with disabilities & their families
• 2,500 hours of documented childcare experience (babysitting, volunteering, and/or professional)
• Ability to lift & carry up to 50 pounds
• Acceptable results on all pre-employment testing & background checks & all renewal testing & clearances
• Ability to comply with all physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation
• Valid PA driver's license & acceptable driving record
• Possess basic computer skills & the ability to learn various computer applications

COMPENSATION

• $16.

25 an hour
