Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Early Head Start Home Visitor to serve families in Venango County. This vital role involves providing in-home support and education to families with infants and toddlers, promoting healthy child development, and strengthening family well-being. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in social work, child welfare, or related fields, along with excellent communication skills and a passion for supporting families. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and their families through personalized home visits and community engagement. Responsibilities Conduct regular in-home visits with families to assess needs, provide parenting education, and promote early childhood development. Develop individualized family service plans tailored to each family's strengths and challenges. Offer crisis intervention and behavioral health support as needed, ensuring safety and stability for children and families. Collaborate with community resources, child protective services, and other agencies to coordinate services and support family stability. Maintain detailed documentation of visits, assessments, and service plans in compliance with program standards. Support families with disabilities by adapting services to meet their unique needs. Educate families on child welfare policies, family law issues, and available community resources. Manage conflicts effectively through conflict management strategies while maintaining a respectful relationship with families. Requirements Minimum requirement is an Associates Degree in any field. Home based CDA, early childhood education classwork, experience working with children, families or social work is preferred; knowledge of child welfare, childcare, or family law is a plus. Strong skills in motivational interviewing, crisis intervention, conflict management, and crisis management. Knowledge of behavioral health issues affecting children and families. Ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including individuals with disabilities. Excellent communication skills—both verbal and written—and the ability to build trusting relationships with families. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for home visits are required. Ability to pass background checks as required by program standards. A passion for supporting early childhood development and family well-being is essential.
