Offering Per Diem for this position. Overview We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Structural Welder, Steel Fabricator, and Duct Worker to join our dynamic construction team in Childress, TX. This position involves fabricating, welding, and assembling steel components for various construction projects, with a focus on ductwork and structural steel. The ideal candidate will possess extensive construction site experience, mechanical knowledge, and proficiency in various welding techniques. Duties Interpret mechanical blueprints and technical drawings to accurately fabricate and assemble steel structures and duct systems. Perform welding operations using FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), and SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) techniques in accordance with AWS standards. Measure materials precisely using calipers, micrometers, measuring instruments, and shop math to ensure fabrication accuracy. Operate power tools, plasma cutters, and machining equipment for cutting, shaping, and assembling sheet metal and metal materials. Fabricate sheet metal components for ductwork systems, ensuring proper fitment and adherence to safety protocols. Use cranes and other lifting equipment to position heavy steel components safely on-site or within fabrication shops. Maintain detailed records of measurements, welding parameters, and fabrication processes. Adhere strictly to safety protocols at all times to ensure a safe working environment on construction sites and within fabrication facilities. Assist in the assembly of fabricated components into completed structures or duct systems as per project specifications. Collaborate effectively with team members to meet project deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards. Experience Proven construction site experience with a strong background in steel fabrication and welding. Demonstrated proficiency in interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and mechanical blueprints. Hands-on experience with various welding processes including FCAW, MIG, TIG, SMAW, and gas metal arc welding. Familiarity with the use of measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers for precise fabrication. Knowledge of shop math related to fabrication measurements and calculations. Experience working with sheet metal fabrication and mechanical fabrication techniques. Ability to operate power tools, plasma cutters, machining equipment, and assembly tools safely. Understanding of AWS standards for welding quality assurance. Prior work in a fabrication shop environment or on construction sites involving structural steel or ductwork is highly desirable. Strong mechanical knowledge combined with basic math skills necessary for accurate measurements and calculations. Commitment to safety procedures and adherence to OSHA regulations.
