PRIMARY PURPOSE

\nWork under moderate supervision to prepare and serve appropriate quantities of food to meet menu requirements. Maintain high standards of quality in food production, sanitation, and safety practices.\n

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

\nHigh school diploma, G.E.D. equivalency or higher preferred\nMust have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by candidate\nMust have Food Handlers Certification from an (ANSI) American National Institute Standards accredited program or obtained during employment. Certifications not accredited by ANSI must be registered with the Texas Department of State Health Services\n

Special Knowledge/Skills:

\nWorking knowledge of industrial kitchen equipment and food production\nManual skills and endurance necessary to perform work duties\nAbility to follow instructions\nKnowledge of principles of quantity food preparation\nKnowledge of basic measurements for dry and liquid ingredients\n

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

\nFood Preparation and Serving\nPrepare quality food for breakfast, lunch, and snack food items as assigned by manager.\nReplenishes food during serving time.\nServe food according to meal schedules, departmental policies, and procedures, and practive and promote portion control and proper use of leftovers.\nStore and handle food items and supplies safely and according to established procedures.\nMaintain a clean and organized storage area. Safety and Sanitation\nOperate tools and equipment according to prescribed safety standards, and follow established procedures to meet high standards of cleanliness, health, and safety.\nKeep garbage collection containers and areas neat and sanitary.\nCorrect unsafe conditions in the work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to the supervisor.\nMaintain personal appearance and hygiene.\nMaintains the storage and care of food items and supplies; maintains a clean and organized storage area.\nKeeps product in the freezer, refrigerator and dry storage areas neat and organized, kept with like product.\nOther\nHandle and record cashier functions accurately and utilize System Designs.\nMaintain stock room and assist with deliveries.\nHelp record food requisitions and order necessary supplies.\nMaintain daily food preparation records.\nPromote teamwork and interaction with fellow staff members.\nWork cooperatively and safely with staff and co-workers.\nComplete annual training requirements.\nRotates all positions/stations in the kitchen as assigned by the cafeteria manager.\nFollow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.\nTake temperatures and records on temperature log, food being receive and delivered.\nSets up tables in the cafeteria for breakfast and lunch service.\nHelps monitor in the cafeteria at breakfast and lunch if not assisting with receiving.\nWork around any meetings or special activities that may be in session during work hours.\nReports accident and potential safety hazards to supervisor; reports malfunctioning equipment to supervisor.\nMoves equipment from one location to another if needed.\nReplaces and maintains custodial supplies and cleaning equipment.
