Position Information Position Title Family Literacy Facilitator Requisition Number H01618P Position Category Campus Location Off Campus Hours per week Months per year Alternate work schedule Pay Grade Salary Hourly Pay Rate $20 FLSA Job Summary/Basic Function The Family Literacy Facilitator will work directly with parents and children in promoting intergenerational literacy activities and parenting skills. Must work effectively with people from all backgrounds and situations. The majority of participants are low-income.
JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Conduct home visits 2. Teach assigned parents and engage parent and child in literacy and learning activities. 3. Implement assigned literacy and parenting lessons during home visits. 4. Communicate with supervisors. 5. Conduct pre- and post- family literacy assessments. 6. Maintain and keep current required documentation. 7. Ensure flexibility in schedule in work hours in order to accommodate the family's schedule for visits. 8. Participate as an effective member of the Family Literacy Project team. 9. Submit reports in a timely manner. 10. Attend scheduled meetings and training. 11. Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Must have excellent interpersonal relationship skills. Must be able to work effectively with all populations. Preference given to those with experience in working with parents and children.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School Degree; experience serving families Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Family Studies or similar field. Experience in parenting education, home visitation, and promoting literacy activities, healthy family interactions, and parenting skills. Background Check? Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important instructions to other workers accurately or quickly. Physical Requirements of this position Light work. Exerting up to 20 lbs of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Use of arm and/or leg controls exerting forces greater than that for sedentary work. Visual Acuity Requirements including color, depth perception and field of vision. Required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment. The conditions the worker will be subject to in this position. None. The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (such as in typical office or administrative work).
