MUST-HAVES
This position is a great fit for someone who enjoys working with young adults and is comfortable jumping between academic support, mentoring, and outdoor activities. Strong academic skills. A significant part of this role will involve supporting students with schoolwork, studying, organization, and navigating college resources. You should be confident in your own academic abilities and comfortable tutoring or helping students develop effective study habits. College/campus knowledge. Familiarity with college systems, campus resources, academic advising, tutoring centers, disability services, and other student support resources is highly valuable. Strong skiing/snowboarding ability. You will occasionally accompany students on ski days and should be comfortable riding the entire mountain , including a variety of terrain and conditions. You don't need to be an instructor, but you should be confident enough to safely navigate the mountain while supporting and mentoring students. Flexible and dependable. This is a mentoring position, so we're looking for someone who can adapt to changing student needs, take initiative, and be willing to jump in wherever support is needed.
SCHEDULE 20-25
hours per week , with the majority of hours scheduled between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM, Monday-Friday. Some weekend availability is required , particularly during the ski season to facilitate student ski/snowboard outings. Occasional evening shifts may also be needed to help provide program coverage.

Our goal is to help our students develop the skills to become independent. Our approach encourages students to soar with their strengths and manage their weaknesses as they pertain to executive functioning skills, emotional, and physical well-being. This position is ideal for someone who is interested in social work and who is looking to bolster their experience for continued education. We anticipate expansion and prefer to promote from within to various leadership and clinical positions. This is a great opportunity to make an impact while acquiring practical experience in the field of social work and psychology.

Orem Core Responsibilities:
Build a therapeutically appropriate relationship with our students to help facilitate positive behavioral change. The most important commodity for our students is our time. Time spent with them will help break down barriers to allow the inspiration and influence that can naturally occur through solid relationships. Time also allows us to gain a better understanding of the source of their limitations, which helps avoid assumptions. This is all done through shared experiences that are typical to a college student. Those experiences can range from attending class, cooking, cleaning, watching movies, hiking, camping, skiing, snowboarding, tubing, laser tag, board games, video games, etc. A successful mentor will embrace the concept of creating a meaningful experience for our students. You will be afforded ample opportunity to be creative to increase student engagement to create a meaningful experience. Day in the
Life:
All of our students will be engaged in some level of higher education or work experience. Thus, a typical day will revolve around a typical college experience. The daytime hours are reserved for school, work and business-type activities; the evening is usually downtime spent having fun; the weekend can be spent doing all sorts of activities. It's up to the mentor to organize their time to balance student needs and self-care.

Qualifications and Skills:
Background in family studies/social work/psychology (preferred, but not required) Customer service oriented Strong verbal and written communication skills Strong organizational skills Willing to work weekends and holidays Strong work ethic Valid driver's license Able to pass a background check and drug screening Full-time and Part-time starting at $17/hour.
