At FCS, we are more than a foster care agency—we are a team of compassionate professionals committed to strengthening families, supporting foster parents, and creating brighter futures for children throughout Northern Virginia. We are seeking caring, dependable, and motivated professionals to join our team as a Community-Based Counselor (Bachelor's Level) | Family Support Services. About the Position This is a part-time, community-based position providing direct services to children and families throughout Northern Virginia. Hours typically range from 5-20 hours per week, depending on referrals and your availability. Most services are provided during evenings and weekends to accommodate family schedules, with additional flexibility during the summer months when children are out of school. This position is ideal for professionals seeking flexible evening and weekend work while making a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families. What You'll Do
Mentoring children and adolescents
Supervising family visitation
Parent coaching and skill development
Home-based family support services
Building positive relationships with children, caregivers, and community partners
Maintaining timely documentation and case notes
Collaborating with supervisors and team members to ensure quality services Every day is different, but every day is an opportunity to positively impact a child or family's future. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Sociology, Counseling, Criminal Justice, Family Studies, or a related human services field
At least one (1) year of experience working with children and families
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently while remaining connected with a supportive team
Strong organizational and time management skills
Valid driver's license
Reliable personal transportation and proof of automobile insurance
Ability to travel throughout Northern Virginia
Successful completion of all required criminal background checks and Child Protective Services registry checks Who We're Looking For
