Job Description

•Previous CIT Experience Required• A Counselor at 29:11 Healing & Recovery Center is responsible for counseling clients during the primary and structured recovery process. The individual will have a caseload assigned by the Clinical Director (under the supervision of the Clinical Director), and will be responsible for individual counseling, group therapy, recovery planning, and educational groups. The responsibility of the position requires that this individual assists clients with recognizing their substance abuse and motivates clients to actively participate in their own recovery.
Skills Required:
o Documentation (notes, treatment plans, assessments, incident reports, discharge planning) o Conduct screenings o Identify appropriate screening triggers o Understanding procedural follow-through when screening triggers are indicated o General knowledge of EMR systems o Understand HIPAA / Confidentiality o Knowledge of healthy and appropriate boundaries between staff and clients o Effective writing skills, including proper grammar and spelling o Crisis prevention and de-escalation
Duties/Responsibilities:
o Maintain responsibility of accountability o Meet with clients to assess their substance issues o Maintain proficiency in screening/intake assessments and treatment planning o Communicate effectively with clients regarding therapy and their treatment plans o Document incident reports when necessary o Track and analyze client recovery progression o Report trauma, abuse, neglect and/or exploitation o Issue, mark, and provide feedback on assessments o Conduct individual therapy sessions o Conduct group therapy sessions o Collect attendance of group therapy o Document sessions of group and individual therapy o Identify recovery interference situations o Educate clients on coping mechanisms o Update legal system about clients when necessary o Help clients plan for discharge from facility o Communicate with the family members of clients when appropriate o Craft patient crisis management plans o Encourage clients to work the Twelve-Step Recovery Program, to attend AA/NA meetings, and to obtain a sponsor o Intervene during emergency situations
