$17.69-$26.03 DOE About the Role Behavioral Healthcare Management operates addition and mental health Rural Health Clinics. This program is only Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), alongside primary care services for Medicare patients. We are seeking a a Behavioral Health Counselor to provide substance use disorder counseling as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team. The Counselor delivers group counseling, contributes to treatment planning, and supports clients through recovery, working within the scope of practice and under appropriate clinical supervision. Key Responsibilities Provide individual, as needed, and group substance use disorder counseling within the scope of practice. Conduct or assist with intake screenings and substance use assessments, as permitted by credential and supervised by clinical leadership. Contribute to the development, implementation, and review of individualized treatment plans in coordination with the clinical team. Facilitate psychoeducational and counseling groups (e.g., relapse prevention, recovery skills) consistent with the scope. Document counseling sessions, progress notes, and treatment plan updates timely and accurately in the EHR, consistent with
HIPAA / 42 CFR
Part 2 and payer requirements. Monitor client progress and adjust counseling approaches in collaboration with the treatment team. Coordinate care with medical, psychiatric, and behavioral health staff, and refer to higher levels of care when indicated. Provide crisis support within scope and escalate to clinical/medical staff as appropriate. Maintain professional boundaries, client confidentiality, and the ethical standards of the ASACB code of ethics. Required Qualifications Active Arkansas certification through the Arkansas Substance Abuse Certification Board (ASACB) ADC, AADC, LAADC or LADAC. Completion of required ASACB education hours (including ethics) and/or the
IC&RC ADC
examination. High school diploma required; associate's degree or higher preferred (degree may reduce supervised-experience requirements for certification). Ability to pass a background check and any required health screenings. Experience in an IOP, residential, detox, or outpatient substance use treatment setting. Experience with co-occurring (mental health + substance use) populations. Familiarity with Medicaid / Medicare documentation and medical-necessity standards. Skills & Attributes Strong counseling, group facilitation, and clinical documentation skills. Knowledge of addiction, recovery models, and evidence-based approaches (e.g., MI, CBT, relapse prevention). Sound judgment, ethics, and appropriate use of supervision. Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team. Organized and able to meet documentation deadlines. Scope & Supervision Services are documented and billed in accordance with applicable Medicare program rules. Tasks requiring a higher credential or independent licensure (e.g., certain assessments, diagnosis, or independent clinical determinations) are performed by or under the direction of appropriately credentialed staff.
