The behavior counselor will work closely with elementary-aged students, teachers, administrators, and families to support students' social-emotional development and address behavioral needs in a positive, structured, and supportive school environment. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children and be comfortable helping students develop appropriate coping skills, communication skills, self-regulation, and positive behaviors.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide individual and small-group behavioral and social-emotional support to elementary students.
• Develop positive relationships with students while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
• Implement behavior-support strategies and individualized interventions based on student needs.
• Assist students in developing emotional regulation, conflict-resolution, communication, and coping skills.
• Monitor student behavior and document progress, concerns, and interventions as appropriate.
• Collaborate with teachers, school administrators, counselors, special education staff, and other members of the student-support team.
• Communicate professionally and appropriately with parents and guardians regarding student progress and behavioral concerns.
• Assist with developing and implementing behavior plans and classroom strategies.
• Support students during transitions, challenging situations, and other times when additional behavioral assistance is needed.
• Promote a safe, respectful, inclusive, and positive school culture.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding students and families.
• Follow all school policies, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations.
• Perform other duties related to student support as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

• Bachelor's degree in counseling, social work, school psychology, behavioral health, or a related field required.
• Experience as a counselor, behavior specialist working with elementary-aged children preferred.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong understanding of child development and positive behavior-support strategies.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to remain calm, patient, and professional when responding to challenging behaviors.
• Must demonstrate sound judgment, reliability, and a genuine interest in helping children succeed.
