Clinical Director Job Summary:
The Group Facilitator is responsible for leading therapeutic and educational group sessions for clients participating in Residential, IOP and PHP programs. The facilitator plays a vital role in helping clients build insight, develop coping strategies, and support their recovery journey through structured, evidence-based, and trauma-informed group work.
Key Responsibilities:
Facilitate daily group therapy sessions according to the facility's clinical schedule and treatment plan requirements. Develop and implement group curriculum focused on mental health, substance abuse education, relapse prevention, coping skills, trauma recovery, emotional regulation, and life skills. Collaborate with therapists, case managers, and other treatment team members to support individualized care plans. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of group attendance, participation, and progress notes in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system. Assist in crisis intervention when necessary and ensure a safe therapeutic environment during group sessions. Provide feedback and insight during treatment team meetings and participate in staff development activities as needed. Uphold professional ethics and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and facility standards.
Qualifications:
Required Education:
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or related field preferred. Master's degree desirable.
Required Experience:
1-2 years of experience facilitating group therapy or psychoeducational groups in a behavioral health, addiction recovery, or social services setting. Licensing/Certification (Preferred or Required): Certified Addiction Professional (CAP), Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS), or similar certification is preferred. CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire). Must possess and maintain a valid, clean driving record if transporting clients is part of the role.
