Crisis Recovery Support Specialist

Life Center, Paris, IL 61944
RATIONALE:
The Crisis Recovery Support Specialist I shall provide peer support services; serve as an advocate; provide information and support for consumers in crisis/emergency, outpatient and walk-in settings. Crisis Recovery Support Specialist I shall perform a wide range of tasks to assist consumers in crisis and in the recovery process and to reclaim their lives from mental illness. Will possess the skills to maintain a high level of professionalism, ethics, and positive interactions. The Crisis Recovery Support Specialist I, when applicable, will promote or educate on the components of Wellness and Recovery Action Planning (WRAP), Whole Health Action Management (WHAM), and Mental Health First Aid (MHFA). The Crisis Recovery Support Specialist I will complete other duties as assigned as related to crisis and recovery support services.
BASIC DUTIES
o De-escalate consumers experiencing and mental health crisis and/or arrange for psychiatric hospitalization or other level of care. o Willingness to self-disclose personal experience as a consumer of mental health services and/or dual diagnosis services. o Participate in statewide events/summits/trainings/activities that support the education/ development/promotion of WHAM, WRAP, MHFA, and Recovery Support and Consumer Provider Services o Commitment and ability to practice within the domains and ethics of the CRSS (certified recovery support specialist) o Communicate with members of the outpatient team when appropriate and needed for appropriate consumer care o Support for consumer choice and consumer driven services o Educate the consumers on wellness and recovery supports o Educate consumers on how to make treatment work for them and their choices in the recovery process o Advocate for consumers using professionalism and non-adversarial approaches o Be aware of and take appropriate action with high-risk indicators/suicidal and homicidal ideations. o Willingness, ability, and commitment to serving as a role model for Recovery. o Travel required o Facilitate group and individual sessions o Avoid dual relationships when possible and appropriate for the best interest of the consumers o Utilize Relias learning when applicable and for annual training o Comply with rule 132, collaborative and CARF documentation o Awareness of Recovery planning needs and development.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
o Lived experience as a consumer of mental health or substance abuse services Mental Health Professional (MHP) credential (Bachelor's Degree) OR 5 years of experience in a mental health related field o Public speaking and communication skills o Experience either as a consumer of or facilitator of groups o Ability to utilize computer for service documentation. o Teaching skills, non-judgmental personality, and empathic listening skills. o Valid driver license / current automobile liability insurance including uninsured motorist coverage. o Current CRSS or desire to pursue CRSS state certification. o WRAP Certification or Desire to pursue WRAP Certificate
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Sit, 76-100% of the time. 2. Stand, walk, 11-40% of the time. 3. Climb stairs, stoop, kneel, bend, reach in front of body, 11-40% of the time. 4. Lift up to 25 pounds. 5. Ordinary speech and hearing, 76-100% of the time. 6. Visual acuity of 20" or less or 20" or more. 7. Simultaneous use of Hand, Wrist, Fingers, 76-100% of the time.
