Provides consultation to staff and families regarding student issues. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(List key areas of responsibility, major job duties and key objectives for this position)Support the social-emotional and mental health needs of students with intellectual and developmental disabilities across school and residential settings. Provides individual counseling services to students on a referral basis, according to need and appropriatenessProvides group counseling services to students on a referral basis. This may be based upon appropriate residential living units or classroom unitsMeets with families or parents/guardians of students in treatment on an ongoing or intermittent basis as appropriate and necessary. May provide consultation to families of students.
Provides evaluations of students referred for counseling, risk assessments, and safety plans as neededAssists in developing behavior support plans for students receiving clinical servicesAssists in the development and implementation of health and wellness curriculum, staff training initiatives, and other programmatic needs as assignedProvides consultation to and collaborates with instructional and residential staffAttends appropriate team and student meetings as assigned (e.g., IEPs, Progress Review, Case Consultation, and weekly department meeting)Liaise with consulting psychiatric nurse practitioner related to student medication managementProvides documentation and reports related to student needs, progress, and goals as appropriateMaintains some scheduling flexibility to include variable evening/weekend hoursParticipates in an on-call rotation to provide consultative support during residential hoursSupports students in the moment during periods of dysregulation as neededIntervenes physically in behaviorally aggressive situations using Safety Care techniquesUpholds the mission and corporate values of St. Coletta and Cardinal Cushing Schools of MassachusettsRegular attendance and promptly reporting to work at the beginning of the scheduled shift are essential functions of this position Assists families with guardianship process and completion of clinical team reportAssumes additional responsibilities as assigned
