In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive addiction counseling services to individuals struggling with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. Your expertise will guide clients through recovery, utilizing evidence-based practices and personalized treatment plans. You will play a key role in assessing client needs, delivering therapeutic interventions, and supporting clients on their journey toward healthier lives. Responsibilities Conduct thorough client assessments, including diagnostic evaluations using DSM-5 criteria, to determine appropriate treatment strategies. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans incorporating evidence-based practices such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), behavioral therapy, and motivational interviewing. Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions focused on addiction recovery, mental health support, and co-occurring disorders. Utilize crisis intervention techniques to manage acute situations effectively while maintaining client safety and well-being. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care, including social workers, medical professionals, and community resources for comprehensive patient support. Maintain accurate clinical documentation in compliance with HIPAA standards, medical documentation protocols, and electronic health records (EHR/EHR) management systems. Engage in ongoing research and data collection to monitor treatment outcomes and improve service delivery. Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field; licensure or certification as an addiction counselor preferred. Proven experience working with individuals with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. Strong knowledge of psychotherapeutic techniques such as motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), applied behavior analysis (ABA), and crisis management. Familiarity with clinical documentation standards, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and medical terminology. Experience working within hospital settings or home & community care environments is highly desirable. Ability to work effectively with diverse populations from various cultural backgrounds while maintaining patient confidentiality under HIPAA guidelines. Excellent client assessment skills combined with strong communication abilities for client engagement and case management.
