Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Co-Occurring Disorder Specialist (CADC, LCADC, or Intern) to join our dynamic behavioral health team. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive assessment, treatment, and support for individuals experiencing co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. Your expertise will help empower clients on their journey toward recovery and resilience, utilizing evidence-based practices in a compassionate and culturally sensitive manner. Duties Conduct thorough client assessments, including diagnostic evaluations using DSM-5 criteria and ICD coding standards, to determine mental health and substance use disorder severity. Develop individualized treatment plans incorporating behavioral therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and evidence-based practices tailored to each client's needs. Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions focused on addiction counseling, mental health counseling, trauma-informed care such as PTSD management, and family therapy when appropriate. Manage crisis intervention situations with professionalism and urgency, ensuring client safety while adhering to crisis management protocols. Document all clinical interactions accurately within Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems following HIPAA guidelines and medical documentation standards. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including case managers, medical professionals, and community resources to coordinate comprehensive care plans. Provide culturally competent care by working effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and maintaining confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Experience Certification as a Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor (CADC), Licensed Clinical Alcohol & Drug Counselor (LCADC), or current internship status in addiction or mental health counseling required. Prior experience working with individuals with co-occurring disorders in settings such as outpatient clinics, hospitals, or community health programs preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of psychotherapeutic techniques including behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, social work principles, and crisis management strategies. Familiarity with medical terminology, clinical documentation standards, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), and working within EMR/EHR platforms is essential. Experience conducting intake assessments, case management activities, and providing patient care in mental health or behavioral health environments highly desirable. Strong communication skills for client engagement and collaboration with healthcare teams; ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds is essential.
