UBHC's 1,060 experienced behavioral health professionals and support staff are dedicated to treatment, prevention, and education. UBHC, one of the largest providers of behavioral health care in the country, has a budget of $260 million and has 15 sites throughout New Jersey. Services are readily accessible and include: inpatient, outpatient, partial hospitalization, screening, crisis stabilization, family/caregiver support, community outreach and case management, supportive housing, supported employment, prevention and consultation, employee assistance programs, and a licensed therapeutic school from preschool through high school. Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Mental Health Specialist III within Community Based Services - Residential at Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care. The primary purpose of the Mental Health Specialist III is to ensure the safety of residents and assist them in carrying out activities of daily living. Among the key duties of this position are the following: Assumes individual service coordination responsibilities for individuals served. Documents events occurring on shift as per supervisory directive. Demonstrates awareness of relevant organization and residential policies, procedures and requirements. WORK ENVIRONMENT

24-hour responsibility for residential services for adults diagnosed with severe and persistent mental illness, forensic histories, and drug/alcohol abuse with history of homelessness, forensic involvement and co-occurring medical issues. Intense work environment with ongoing crisis assessment and intervention. Position demands constant attention to multiple programmatic needs. Exposure to infestations and blood borne pathogens possible that requires use of personal protective equipment. Special Conditions Holiday, evening, weekend and overnight availability required.
