Limited Permit Mental Health Counselor (MHC-LP) or Social Worker - Per Diem / Part-Time Therapist Groth Psychology & Wellness - Smithtown, NY Hybrid | Flexible Schedule | Per Diem with Opportunity to Grow to Full-Time About the Practice Groth Psychology & Wellness is a private psychology practice in Smithtown, NY providing psychotherapy and psychological services to children, adolescents, adults, and families. Our approach is warm, collaborative, scientifically informed, and client-centered, with treatment individualized to each client's developmental needs, strengths, and goals. The practice has particular expertise in working with children, adolescents, and parents , as well as individuals experiencing anxiety and mood disorders, ADHD and learning differences, autism and social difficulties, eating disorders, trauma, and other emotional and behavioral concerns. We are looking to add a Limited Permit Mental Health Counselor (MHC-LP) or Social Worker to our growing practice. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career clinician seeking to develop their clinical skills within a supportive private-practice setting while building a caseload. Position Overview The therapist will provide individual psychotherapy to clients within the practice. Interest and experience working with children and adolescents is highly preferred , as is comfort collaborating with parents and caregivers as part of treatment. The position will begin on a per-diem/part-time basis with the potential to grow into a full-time caseload based on clinician interest and practice needs. Clinicians may work through a combination of in-person sessions at our Smithtown office and telehealth , allowing for a hybrid schedule. Responsibilities Provide individual psychotherapy to children, adolescents, and/or adults Conduct initial clinical assessments and develop individualized treatment plans Provide evidence-based, developmentally appropriate interventions Collaborate with parents and caregivers when treating children and adolescents Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation Coordinate care with other providers when clinically appropriate Participate in weekly supervision and ongoing professional development Maintain appropriate ethical and professional standards of care Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, or a related clinical field NYS Limited Permit or eligibility to obtain a Limited Permit Strong interest in developing as a psychotherapist within a private-practice setting Experience and/or strong interest in treating children and adolescents Experience working collaboratively with parents and families is highly preferred Interest in treating anxiety, mood disorders, ADHD, emotional/behavioral dysregulation, social difficulties, and/or related concerns Warm, thoughtful, collaborative, and professional clinical style Strong communication and documentation skills Reliable, organized, and motivated to build a caseload Supervision & Professional Development Weekly supervision is provided. Clinicians will have the opportunity to receive support with case conceptualization, treatment planning, clinical interventions, parent work, and professional development. The practice's treatment approach is integrative and informed by developmental, psychodynamic, interpersonal, and evidence-based approaches, including CBT, DBT-informed interventions, and parent-management strategies . There will also be opportunities for continuing education (CE) and ongoing clinical training as part of the position. Compensation Clinician compensation is 40-45% of collected session revenue , depending on experience and qualifications. This structure allows compensation to grow as the clinician develops their caseload, with the potential to transition from per-diem/part-time work to a fuller schedule.
