About Us For 40 years, Windwood Family Services has provided help, hope, and healing to children and families in the Lowcountry affected by abuse, neglect, or trauma. On our 110-acre farm in Awendaw, SC, we operate a Qualified Residential Treatment Program and a Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility serving boys ages 6-16 — some in the custody of SC DSS following prior abuse or neglect, others facing behavioral challenges while still in their parents' care. Alongside our residential programs, our Family Resource Connection and Preservation Services team works with families across the Charleston tri-county area to keep children safely at home whenever possible. This role delivers individual, group, and family therapy using evidence-based, trauma-informed practices, while completing diagnostic assessments, developing and updating Individual Plans of Care (IPOCs), and coordinating closely with families and referring agencies. Because this is a residential setting operating around the clock, the therapist's work extends well beyond the therapy room. It means partnering with the interdisciplinary treatment team on active treatment and crisis planning, tracking each client's progress with an eye toward safe, successful discharge, and ensuring documentation meets COA, SCDSS, SCDHHS, and Medicaid standards along the way. It means staying attuned to a young person's needs day to day, and staying connected to the families working toward reunification. This Job Might Be for You If You're drawn to residential treatment work and want your clinical skills to make a daily, visible difference in a young person's life You thrive as part of an interdisciplinary team and communicate naturally with clinical directors, caregivers, and agency partners You bring structure and follow-through to documentation and treatment planning without losing sight of the person in front of you You stay steady under pressure and can navigate crisis moments with calm, trauma-informed judgment You believe in family-centered treatment and are motivated to keep caregivers engaged throughout a client's stay You want to grow your clinical career — toward independent licensure and beyond — within an organization that invests in that growth Key Responsibilities Provide individual psychotherapy (minimum 90 minutes/week), group therapy (minimum 3 groups/week), and family therapy (minimum twice monthly) Eight clients for a full case load Complete diagnostic evaluations at admission and every 6 months Develop, update, and reformulate IPOCs within required timelines Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation supporting medical necessity and treatment progress Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, 30-day reviews, and SCDSS Child & Family Team Meetings Maintain weekly contact with primary caregivers and encourage ongoing family engagement Work with care team on discharge planning, reunification efforts, and Therapeutic Home Time (THT) processes Communicate critical incidents, behavioral concerns, and crisis interventions promptly to leadership and caregivers Collaborate with the Deputy Director, Medical Director, Nursing Director, Clinical Director, Residential Director, and Board Certified Behavior Analyst Uphold agency standards for ethics, safety, diversity, equity, inclusion, and trauma-informed care Meet VOCA grant objectives, including completing assessments, providing 25+ hours/week of therapeutic contact, and developing individualized treatment interventions Minimum Qualifications Master's degree in a mental health field Must possess your provisional license or independent license Temporary licenses are not permitted Experience in mental health or residential treatment settings Preferred to have experience in working in crisis/high acuity settings Strong clinical documentation, communication, crisis intervention, and organizational skills Ability to maintain confidentiality and work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team Strong ability to set boundaries with high needs clients and families Training & Compliance Requirements 32 hours of training at hire; 16+ hours annually (Mental Health First Aid, Sexual Harassment, HIPAA, Trauma-Informed Practices, Mandated Reporter, CPR/First Aid, CPI) Must maintain professional licensure and provide updated copies to HR Must obtain and maintain TF-CBT rostering(check in about this training) Fingerprinting required; all arrests, driving suspensions, and workplace injuries must be reported within 24 hours Ability to safely perform CPI physical interventions when necessary Schedule & Work Expectations Full-time, 40 hours/week, salaried Sunday-Thursday, 8am-4:30pm Required virtual on call rotation every three weeks Essential position during emergencies (evacuation or shelter-in-place) Not expected to respond to emails or texts after hours unless on-call Compensation & Benefits $70,000 starting salary (LPC-A or LMSW) $75,000 upon obtaining independent licensure (LMFT, LPC, or LISW-CP) This is a PSLF eligible position SC State Health Plan (employee pays a portion; agency covers short-term disability) A generous paid leave policy
