Currently accepting applications for a full time, salaried Emergency Services Clinician to join our acute care team. Our Emergency Clinicians provide 24-hour on-call telephone and mobile response to communities and individuals experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis. Responses in the community include all of Orange County VT and the surrounding VT region. Some overnight and weekend coverage is required for all Emergency Clinicians. Safe, reliable transportation is also required to respond to community based incidents.

Experience Required:

Bachelor's degree and/or Master's degree in counseling field, or combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired. Experience with providing direct care and coordination of care to a wide variety of individuals, adults, youth and children experiencing mental illness and/or substance use problems preferred.

Responsibilities:

Performs initial risk assessment, ensures appropriate disposition and referral is made and carried through. Intervenes in crisis situations to assess and stabilize client's condition using available resources, providing safety, comfortability, and confidentiality. Provides mental health consultations, incapacitation screenings, emergency assessments for suicidal and homicidal and diagnostic criteria for state and local hospitals, schools, police, DCF and other area providers. Engages Peer Support Specialists to provide peer supports for mobile crisis related calls. Serves as an extension of our Same Day Access team to provide access related services and functions as needed. Provides constant availability and reliability coverage and supportive contact to team members and Agency peers to ensure effective coverage. Provides written emergency contact notes, verbally and various written documentation for Agency team members (i.e. clinicians, case managers), area hospitals, police departments, DCF and other area providers for the basis of general information, background, history and protocol for effective emergency coverage. Completes clinical documentation in accordance with established documentation guidelines. Provides crisis management and emergency service "on-call" at night and on weekends.
