Employer Match up to 4% Competitive Time Off Plans About our Program PSS1: is a 60-day program with a Profession Parent component designed to provide a comprehensive integrated service model designed to meet the needs of children/adolescents who are at risk of out-of-home placement, abuse, and neglect. Services will be tailored to provide support to children and their families who are represented in the Child Welfare System. We serve the highest acuity youths in the county and have a 30-minute response time for our youths, and can provide 24/7 crisis stabilization support, if needed/approved by DFCS.

Overview:

Within a team process, develops a strength-based relationship with client in the context of a mental health or behavioral crisis. Intervenes with individuals presenting with crisis behaviors including but not limited to agitation, aggression, active psychosis, suicidal ideation and/or self-injury. Takes on an increased leadership role on the Crisis team due to experience and expertise which will include coaching and training other Crisis staff around essential and advanced skills including but not limited to facilitating crisis trainings, shadowing new crisis intervention specialists, and coaching around de-escalation techniques with individuals presenting with crisis behaviors. The position requires shift-based work in which individuals are responding to community or Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) based crisis on immediate emergency requests from individuals, community partners, law enforcement or family members/natural supports. The position will require at times joint response with law enforcement officers including the screening for dangerous situations, weapons, and other high risk environmental factors. Responsible for linking to community resource. Searching, locating, and engaging in individuals' or youth's natural supports. May assist with transitioning/transporting individuals or youth to the lowest level of care needed. Works independently in the individuals' or youth's home and in a variety of community and/or treatment settings. May require certification in restraint protocols.

Responsibilities:

Demonstrates mastery of the Crisis Intervention Specialist 1 Job Description Advanced skills through support of the MH crisis hotline by modeling and coaching Crisis Intervention specialist I in gathering information, supporting callers and identifying needs related to current crisis situation. May provide phone stabilization and resourcing as needed. Provides crisis assessment and de-escalation of adults or youth who are experiencing an acute MH or behavioral crisis and may be presenting as a danger to themselves or a danger to others. Demonstrates ability to train others in process of information gathering and decision making related to involuntary psychiatric holds as Lanterman Petris Short laws and regulations. Demonstrates advanced knowledge around providing direct billable mental health services, documenting in alignment with MediCal regulations, and achieves set productivity expectations. Exhibits advanced knowledge around coaching others in the use of the electronic health record. Maintaing audit ready progress notes. Models expert techniques around engaging and supporting family members and other natural supports in the midst of an acute psychiatric crisis which includes psychoeducation related to deescalation strategies, steps to secure home environments specifically related to weapons, dangerous items, substances that could put the client at risk of harm to self or others. Coaches others in the workflow of transporting individuals on 5150 holds including providing clinical information to accepting hospitals or CSU/other psychiatric facilities. Remains with client until transport has arrived and client safety enroute to accepting facility. Leads Assists individuals with identifying triggers, unmet needs, psychosocial factors that are contributing to ongoing acute MH crisis. Utilize strengths-based approach to develop a comprehensive risk management and safety plan to support the client in stabilizing the behaviors that may present as danger to themselves or others after the conclusion of service. Provides linkage, referrals and resources in the community based on identified needs which may include but not limited to MH services, substance use services, housing supports, and additional identified social services.
