With a busy working parent, dependability and a genuine love for kids are everything in this role. About the Family This family is settling into a new school-year routine with two school-aged children. A busy working parent needs steady, dependable afternoon support, getting the kids from school, to their activities, and home, with a little help around homework and dinner. The children are independent and easygoing, and they also speak Japanese; the family would love a nanny who can help them keep it up but not required. Above all, they're looking for someone warm and consistent who will genuinely enjoy the kids and become a trusted part of their week.

Two — a middle-school-aged child and an elementary-aged child

Schedule:
Part-time afternoons, Monday-Friday, about 3:00-5:00 PM (occasionally later), around 10 hours/week. Most days start with a 3:00 PM school pickup; several days include driving to after-school activities.
A representative week:
Monday:
3:00 PM pickup
Tuesday:
3:30 PM pickup, then to soccer (~4:00 PM)
Wednesday:
3:00 PM pickup (being confirmed)
Thursday:
3:00 PM pickup, soccer (~4:30 PM)
Friday:
3:00 PM pickup, soccer scrimmage (~4:30 PM) Schedule is still being finalized as the family settles into the school year; days and times will vary with the children's activities and the school calendar.
Occasional extras:
From time to time, an evening or weekend babysitting session so the parent can step out, and occasional flexibility to help when the parent travels for work. Responsibilities Pick the children up from school in the afternoon and drive them safely to their activities and home Get one child to soccer while bringing the other home, typically no need to stay at practice, but flexible enough to cover activity pickup if the parent gets held up at work Make sure the kids have what they need for their activities Provide a snack and help with homework as needed Light tidying related to the children and help getting dinner started Keep the afternoon running smoothly and get the kids where they need to be on time Support the children with warmth and gentle, consistent guidance, including helping them handle big emotions kindly Be open to occasional kid-friendly outings (a trip to the beach, etc.) when it works Communicate simply and proactively, a quick note on where they are, and reach out right away if anything's wrong Ideal Candidate Warm, reliable, and independent, able to take full ownership of the afternoon without needing constant direction Genuinely enjoys children and will build a real, caring relationship with them Gentle yet firm, helps the children navigate expectations and emotions with kindness Comfortable with devices in moderation, but homework and connection come first Flexible and open-minded, happy to roll with a schedule that shifts and with occasional evening/weekend or travel-coverage needs Comfortable driving children every day, with a clean driving record Japanese language skills are strongly preferred. The children speak Japanese and the family would love help keeping it up if possible
Compensation & Benefits Hourly Rate:
$25/hr W2 employment with tax withholding Paid vacation days, sick days, and paid holidays Mileage reimbursement at the IRS rate ($0.725/mile) for driving Required 3+ years of professional childcare experience Valid driver's license and clean driving record (required — this role drives daily) Reliable transportation Current CPR and First Aid certification Currently lives on Oʻahu Willingness to undergo a background check and DMV record search How to Apply This is a wonderful role for a warm, dependable caregiver who loves being out and about with kids.
