Nanny Start Date:
Ideally September 14-21; earlier start welcomed
Schedule:
Part-time initially, transitioning to full-time
Compensation:
$22-$25/hour initially; increasing to approximately $24-$27/hour when caring for all children
Commitment:
Long-term About the Family A warm, active family of six—with their fifth child arriving in October—is looking for an experienced, confident nanny to join their household long-term. This is a unique opportunity for someone looking for a position that can grow into a full-time role . The family's immediate childcare needs are part-time, but Mom will return to work in January, at which point the position will transition to approximately 8:30 AM-4:00 PM, Monday through Friday . For the right candidate who needs full-time employment now, the family is open to guaranteeing full-time hours from the start . Otherwise, they are happy to begin with the part-time schedule and gradually increase hours. Current Schedule Beginning in September, the anticipated schedule is:
Monday:
8:30 AM-4:00
PM Tuesday:
2:00-5:00
PM Wednesday:
8:30 AM-1:30
PM Thursday:
2:00-5:00
PM Friday:
8:30 AM-4:00 PM The family has flexibility and would love someone open to occasional adjusted start/end times or evening help with children's activities. Mom's work schedule is known well in advance, so additional needs can typically be communicated ahead of time.
January and beyond:
Approximately Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM-4:00 PM. Thursdays may occasionally have a later start and end around 6:00-6:30 PM. The nanny will continue working throughout Mom's maternity leave, allowing plenty of time to establish a routine before she returns to work. The Children The family has four children, ages 11, 8, 6, and 3 , with a new baby due in October. During the school year, the nanny's day-to-day responsibilities will be primarily focused on the 3-year-old and new baby , as the three older children attend school. The older children are active, social, and involved in sports, so occasional transportation and helping the family "divide and conquer" will be part of the role. During the summer and other times when all five children are home , the family would ideally love a nanny comfortable helping with the entire crew. The children participate in camps and activities, so summer care will involve plenty of transportation and logistics rather than having all five children together at home all day. Compensation will increase when the role expands to regular care of all five children. Responsibilities Responsibilities will remain primarily child-focused and include engaging, developmentally appropriate care; children's meals and snacks; children's laundry and general tidying; school/activity transportation; and helping keep children's routines organized. The family would love a nanny who enjoys getting out of the house with the younger children for library story time, parks, the zoo, playdates, and other age-appropriate activities that encourage socialization and development. The Ideal Nanny This family is looking for someone active, outgoing, experienced, and confident who understands how to work with children at different ages and stages. With a busy household and a neighborhood full of friends, they want someone who isn't afraid to set boundaries, take initiative, and confidently handle situations as they arise. The parents want their nanny to feel empowered to make decisions and establish consistency , while maintaining open communication and collaborating with them as a team. Their parenting style is structured but flexible. They believe different children respond to different approaches and value reasonable boundaries, natural consequences, and age-appropriate expectations. Above all, they are looking for someone who can become a trusted, long-term part of their family's rhythm as their childcare needs grow and evolve.
