Nursery Caregiver Position Summary The Nursery Caregiver provides a safe, welcoming, nurturing, and Christ-centered environment for infants and young children during Sunday morning programming at First Christian Church. This person should genuinely enjoy caring for children and understand that the nursery is often one of a family's first experiences with our church.
Qualifications The Nursery Caregiver should:
Have previous experience caring for infants and young children. Demonstrate warmth, patience, dependability, and good judgment. Enjoy interacting and playing with children. Care about the spiritual growth and well-being of children and families. Be willing to work cooperatively with church staff, volunteers, parents, and other nursery workers. Be CPR and First Aid certified or willing to receive certification. Successfully complete a background check and comply with all FCC child-safety policies.

Personnel Ministry Team, in consultation with the Senior Pastor Regular Schedule The Nursery Caregiver works approximately 2½-2¾ hours each Sunday morning , generally from 9:45 AM until 12:15-12:30 PM , including preparation and cleanup. The caregiver provides childcare during the Sunday School hour and the 11:05 AM worship gathering. Additional childcare may occasionally be requested for special events or seasonal worship services. These opportunities are optional and dependent upon the caregiver's availability.
Responsibilities The Nursery Caregiver will:
Provide attentive, loving care for children from newborn through age four. Maintain a safe environment and actively supervise children at all times. Welcome children and parents and help children feel comfortable when separating from their parents. Comfort and reassure children who are upset or experiencing separation anxiety. Interact with children through conversation, play, reading, and age-appropriate activities rather than simply supervising the room. Change diapers and attend to the feeding needs of infants as appropriate. Assist toddlers with restroom needs in accordance with FCC's child-safety policies. Serve snacks during the Sunday School hour as appropriate. Help children learn to share and interact appropriately with one another. Along with Cindy and other preschool ministry leaders, help communicate a brief, age-appropriate Bible lesson or spiritual truth during the Sunday School hour. Maintain a clean and sanitary nursery environment, including cleaning or sanitizing toys, eating utensils, drinking utensils, and other nursery items as needed. Make sure nursery rooms are orderly and clean before leaving each Sunday. Check nursery supplies regularly and communicate supply needs to the Director of Children's Ministry. Follow FCC procedures regarding child check-in and check-out, illness, allergies, injuries, emergencies, and other safety concerns. Promptly communicate any concerns involving a child, parent, nursery environment, or safety issue to the appropriate supervisor. Compensation $16.50 per hour Additional approved childcare hours for special events or services will be compensated at the same hourly rate unless otherwise specified.
