Child Watch Staff Member

Job Description

Under the guidance of the Youth and Family Programs Director, the Child Watch Staff Member will assist with morning child watch during the week. This position requires working mornings, Monday through Friday, as scheduled, from 8am to 12 pm. This is a part time job. Must have knowledge of childcare and child development. The staff member will be responsible for assisting with the implementation of all classroom activities.
Essential Functions:
Welcomes all participants with a smile. On time for each shift. Responsible for the safety of children at all times, including understanding and being able to implement emergency procedures as necessary. Assisting the staff with other duties as required for the operation of the child care program. Demonstrating sound judgement in making decisions, setting priorities, and solving problems. Must be willing to move back and forth, displaying a high energy, encouraging atmosphere, during entire shift (3-4 hours) Cultivate positive relationships, conducts parent conferences, and maintains effective communication. Wear appropriate activity attire and footwear. Shirt provided by the YMCA. Other duties as assigned.
Work Environment/ Physical and Mental Demands:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with parents in a professional manner. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Required to stay moving regularly during a 3 to 4 hour shift. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and or move up to 45 pounds.
Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED. Experience with children is preferred. At least 18 years or older CPR, First Aid, AED certifications, and Child Abuse prevention training provided within 30 days of hire
