Full-Time or Part-Time Position Summary The Childcare Driver is responsible for safely transporting children to and from the childcare center, schools, field trips, and approved activities. The Driver must maintain a safe, professional, and child-friendly environment while following all transportation procedures, center policies, and applicable state and local regulations. The ideal candidate is dependable, responsible, punctual, patient, and committed to the safety and well-being of children. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Safely transport children to and from schools, the childcare center, field trips, and other approved locations. Follow assigned transportation routes and schedules. Arrive on time for all scheduled pick-ups and drop-offs. Maintain active supervision of children during transportation. Ensure children are properly seated and secured with appropriate seat belts, car seats, or safety restraints. Complete required attendance, transportation, and child sign-in/sign-out records. Verify that all children are accounted for before departing each location and after arriving at the destination. Conduct required vehicle checks before and after each trip. Perform a complete visual inspection of the vehicle after every route to ensure no child is left inside. Follow all center transportation safety procedures. Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary vehicle. Report vehicle concerns, maintenance needs, accidents, incidents, or safety concerns to administration immediately. Follow all traffic laws and drive safely at all times. Avoid distracted driving, including cell phone use while operating the vehicle. Maintain professional and respectful communication with children, families, school staff, coworkers, and administration. Assist children with entering and exiting the vehicle safely. Maintain appropriate behavior expectations while children are being transported. Report behavioral or safety concerns involving children to administration. Maintain confidentiality regarding children and families. Assist with childcare duties when not driving, if assigned and qualified. Participate in required staff meetings, transportation training, safety training, and professional development. Perform additional transportation or childcare-related duties assigned by administration. Vehicle Safety Responsibilities The Childcare Driver is expected to: Inspect the vehicle before each route. Check tires, lights, mirrors, seat belts, safety restraints, and emergency equipment. Ensure the vehicle has adequate fuel before transportation begins. Maintain required emergency information and first aid supplies in the vehicle. Keep aisles and exits clear. Never leave children unattended in a vehicle. Follow proper procedures during emergencies, breakdowns, or accidents. Complete and document post-trip vehicle inspections after every transportation route. Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred. Valid driver's license required. Clean and acceptable driving record required. Must meet all state and insurance requirements for transporting children. Previous experience transporting children preferred. Previous childcare or school transportation experience preferred. Must successfully complete required background clearances. CPR and First Aid certification required or willingness to obtain certification. Must complete required transportation, child safety, and childcare training. Must be physically and mentally capable of safely operating the assigned vehicle. Good judgment and decision-making skills. Ability to maintain accurate transportation records. Ability to work cooperatively with childcare staff and administration. Physical Requirements The Childcare Driver must be able to: Sit and drive for extended periods when necessary. Enter and exit the vehicle frequently. Assist children entering and exiting the vehicle. Bend, reach, and inspect vehicle seating areas. Lift or assist with child safety equipment when required. Respond quickly during emergencies. Professional Expectations The Childcare Driver is expected to maintain professional attendance, punctuality, communication, appearance, and conduct. Because this position is directly responsible for children's transportation and safety, strict compliance with all transportation procedures and safety requirements is essential. Pay:
$22.73 - $27.37 per hour Expected hours: 60.0 per week
