GENERAL FUNCTION
: The Childcare Director is responsible for monitoring and supervising all day-to-day operations of the day care, preschool, and summer day camp programs, including but not limited to the staffing, program scheduling, and those programs designated as priority community needs in accordance with the North Penn YMCA's long range program plan. This position may involve early morning, evening and weekend responsibilities. This job is performed to standard when all work is completed accurately and on time, with minimal supervision.
QUALIFICATIONS
Requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in administration, early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or equivalent is preferred Requires a minimum of 2 years' experience or proof of skills in scheduling, staffing, facility/equipment management, staff/volunteer relations, purchasing, finances and budgeting Requires a minimum of 3 years' experience relating to day care, school-age, and camping programs Requires current CPR and Basic First Aid certifications Effective Communication; written, oral and through presentations Must have strong collaborative work ethic Ability to interact with people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles
RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages the day care, preschool, and summer camp programing, including developing and monitoring the program budget to meet fiscal objectives; compiling program statistics to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in the program; securing, scheduling, and maintaining the needed facilities; creating and scheduling the activities or events; and maintaining program records or files. Ensures programs and services meet community needs to include supervising existing program activities, establishing new program activities, and expanding the program within the community as needed. Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information. Develop, recommend and implement a comprehensive program, which considers space utilization, equipment needs, needs of participants, budget requirements, safety, staff/child ratios and emergency procedures Manage the assigned area in a fiscally sound manner; maintaining budget, preparing annual budget plans, monthly monitoring reports, session program reports and contingency plans as needed Assures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations as they relate to program areas, including PA DHS childcare regulations and ADA accommodations where appropriate; ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures followed. Reviews program plans and records to ensure consistency with evidence-based best practices. Recruits and hires diverse staff and volunteer teams across multiple dimensions of diversity. Onboards and develops them for success. Maintains staff schedules and evaluates staff performance. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with staff, parents and caregivers, and community organizations (e.g., state child care licensing agency, school administration) to maximize program impact and drive overall outcomes; maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility. Organizes or participates in Y activities, such as committees, special events, and fundraising. Maintain daily open communication with parents Ability to process, understand and respond appropriately to emergency situations Provides guidance to all staff and volunteers to ensure program is delivered within predetermined guidelines Maintain facilities and equipment in safe working order Serve as Director on Duty as need be Assist with Association Annual Gift fund raising including coordination, leadership, attainment of goals, recruiting volunteers and staff with full knowledge of YMCA programs, values and services provided to the community Coordinates, with the Marketing and Financial Development Director, a regular planned public relations and marketing plan Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed (i.e. participation in branch-wide activities and events as a team leader) Understands and applies the concept of Membership Retention and supports membership department customer service, information distribution and facility coverage.
